Our task was to feature the beauty of a town on the Mississippi while creating a valuable source of information for the community. We created tools to simply and quickly post city government meetings and public documents, maintain an event calendar, and keep a business directory up to date.

Ever-Changing Home Page

When going to the home page, the first thing you notice is a photo showing off the sights of the community. A different picture comes up on each visit. They also have room for a full news article and the current weather forecast. Weather alone, is a good reason for residents to set this site as their home page.

Community-Edited Calendar

A simple, editable calendar is a great resource for communities of any size. This calendar is even better. Any area visitor can post their own events, to be approved by the site owner. This makes it possible to stay current and complete, without a lot of extra work. The site owner only has to click "approve" and the event and all its details are automatically posted to the calendar. It's also easy to add the events on this calendar to your personal Google Calendar or your Windows Vista Calendar and have it update automatically as new events are posted to the web site.

Information At Hand

City governments often find it hard, and even complicated to get important information out to its citizens. With Dallas City's new site, this is almost too easy. Council meeting minutes can be posted almost as soon as they are prepared. It's as easy as attaching it to an email. In other words, instead of attatching it to an email and sending it to someone to post to the web site, it can all be done in one step. We've made it simple for other public notices, documents, and forms to be posted as well.
